Care
and storage tips
Most
of our bulk products do not require special care in storage, other
than common sense and the usual storage in the refrigerator for most
food items after opened, for example.
Many
products can be frozen but it is not necessary to do so. Products
that can be frozen include: coffee, candles (but not the ones in glass
jars!), cookies, breads and such.
You
can refrigerate some products for longer and better storage: oils,
scents, room sprays, honey, jams (food such as preserves should be
refrigerated when opened in any case), chocolate spreads, chocolate
etc.
None
of the canned or jar foods need to be refrigerated before opening
but should be refrigerated when opened. It is always advisable for
food safety, to transfer the contents of a can (if you are not using
the entire can) to a more appropriate storage container (glass, corningware
or plastic, etc that you can seal) before refrigerating for storage.
Use
opened products within a reasonable length of time, like you would
any food and remember, many of our lovely gourmet food products have
very little preservatives in them. We choose the finest, fresh, most
natural gourmet products for you from Europe, so enjoying them often
& soon is always a good idea. Discard anything that looks or smells
odd over time.
It
is always best to store products in a cool dry place and in some cases
not to open a box or wrapping before you are ready to use the content.
Shelf liners for example are best kept sealed until use. Or close
the box & store in a cool, dry place when you use only part of
the contents.
Linen
water, linen washes can just be stored in the laundry room. Make sure
to close the caps securely when not using to slow evaporation (minimal
in any case).
Soap,
bath products and such can simply be stored in a bathroom closet or
cabinet. One grandmother’s tip is to store scent in the refrigerator
especially in Summer for a cool jolt!
Individually
wrapped soaps should be left wrapped until ready to use to retain
fragrance & freshness, remember, we choose the finest, natural
(when possible) and very freshest items for you and that includes
